A little about Science Explorers
Science Explorers is an innovative, hands-on science company dedicated to providing an opportunity for children ages 4-11 to become engaged in the wonders of science. Whether it’s an after-school program, science summer camp, school assembly, or scout badge earning event, Science Explorers can make science cool and exciting through our interactive, hands-on format. Ever dissect a shark? What about a squid? Have you ever mixed together two liquids to create a solid? Made glowing slime? Examined a real heart? Built and launched your own rocket? Lifted a person using nothing but air? These are some of the awesome experiments that make our programs so popular.

Science Explorers was founded in 1999 by Jennifer Moorehead with a mission to make science fun. Since then we have brought our exciting, inquiry based hands-on science programs to thousands of elementary aged children throughout Southeastern PA.

In 2003, the S.P.A.R.K.S. Foundation, the non-profit leg of Science Explorers, was established in order to provide underprivileged children with the opportunity to experience hands-on science that they otherwise may not be able to enjoy due to socio-economic barriers. Through partnerships with Ametek, Inc. and other generous companies, S.P.A.R.K.S. has been able to affect more than 10,000 children to date by opening their eyes to the wonders of science. “With this program, we’ve seen how we can spark a child’s interest in science and in learning that hopefully they will take with them as they grow. We love seeing the excitement that shows on their faces as they discover new things. We also want them to realize that they can do anything they set their mind to,” says Moorehead.

Science Explorers Sparks Interest in Science Experiments!

  • Hypothesis
Children will benefit from additional hands-on science instruction!
  • Background Info
According to a survey of the National Science Foundation the average elementary age student has the opportunity to participate in 2.5 lab experiences a year! That’s one every 3 to 4 months. With impending testing in the field of science, these numbers put our kids at a big disadvantage!
  • Experiment
Through the Sparks Foundation, Science Explorers reaches out to area businesses and community members for support to conduct innovative, hands-on, interactive science projects through after-school programs, family science nights, science summer camps and school wide assemblies.
  • Record Data
Kids actually have fun with science and retain the information they learn! All Science Explorers curriculum is based on both state and national science standards. Kids learn the information they’ll be tested on and understand what they are learning which means better test scores and higher self esteem! Research shows that students retain up to 90% more of the information they are presented with when they engage on hands-on activities.
Help kids spark their imaginations and develop their natural curiosity as they explore the world we live in by providing an opportunity for a strong foundation in science and lifelong learning!
  • Conclusion
Your support of our innovative science programs impacts not only the students who participate but also the teachers, schools and the community we live in!
